My Week in Art #19 – Festive Artwork and To-Do Lists
My Week in Art 19 – Festive Artwork and Loads of Art Tasks
I’ve uploaded my Festive / Christmas cards to my Etsy shop this week – it took a much longer amount of time than I had thought. There’s me thinking I’d knock them all up in one afternoon! It actually took ages to paint each layer, let everything dry, try designs and add finishing touches as well as wrapping everything up… Who else plans a project like this and assumes it’ll all be finished in about 3 hours?
I took inspiration from background designs I had made from previous artworks, I wanted to overlay a really simple shape with texture over the top to represent something like a Christmas tree, a decoration or a present. I added on texture in a simple way like polka dots in metallic paint to add a little jazz. They are a combination of simplified design and adding something “jazzy” to make the design fit with the festive season.
The packs are sold as a group of 6 assorted designs so there’s something for everyone. They look really sweet displayed together and add a touch of hygge / Scandi vibes to your decorative displays too!
I have a few upcoming art bits to do for the new year, there are a couple of possible chances to display my work and I need to make some new pieces and research a few new designs too. I’ll be busy photographing, finding people and crowds to photograph, sketching the photographs and making designs from them. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get these bits done around my part-time and freelance jobs, I am always juggling!
